What Are The Best Music Apps For Galaxy S6?

By: Editorial Staff

Music is something most people take extremely personally and when trying to find Galaxy S6 Music Apps that will allow you to actually listen to music can be difficult. There are so many apps out there, but they aren’t all created equally. There are some apps that will allow you to download music on your Galaxy S6 and others that will have some rare music that you haven’t heard all that often. Of course there are some fantastic options out there where you will have to pay a subscription fee, but those aren’t the apps we are looking for – instead, we are looking at alternatives to the common apps that are out there.

Best Music Apps For Samsung Galaxy S6

We looked through all of the music apps for Samsung Galaxy and found the best options that are out there. Not that these won’t be the best options for everybody – it will depend on what you need out of your app, what style music you listen to, and even if you are willing to listen to ads.

Even so, here are our top choices for the best music apps for Samsung Galaxy S6:

doubleTwist

  • Integrate your own library
  • Control your music on various devices
  • Extremely reliable app

doubleTwist is a great app if you have your own existing library and want to bring it onto your new phone. It has a desktop app that is beloved as well. On top of that, it has great reliability and most people don’t have any problems with using it in any way. You can use this app to listen to your own music or you can use it to listen to streaming radio, podcasts, YouTube, and more. There are a few different options for playback controls, including in-line headphones.

Most people will choose to start with the free app, but there is a fantastic upgrade that is a bit pricy, but worth it. With the upgrade, you can control music on different devices (including Apple TVs and Xbox), get ad-free podcasts, an equalizer, and more.

Google Play Music

  • Comes preloaded into your phone.
  • Has some of the best music choices of all the apps.
  • Create your own playlists and mixes.

Google Play Music is probably the most obvious choice on the list. It comes preloaded onto the Galaxy S6. It has a lot of great features and it is probably the most reliable app on the list. You can access your own music and listen to new music at the same time. You will need to do some digging to find the music controls if you are interested in an equalizer, but it is there.

If you do like to create, Instant Mixes help you to create playlists and even your own mixes. It will cost you $9.99 for a subscription, but most people will eventually default to this one.

Milk Music

  • Built into your phone so you don’t have to download it.
  • Save music to listen while offline.
  • Free or paid version.

Samsung also preloads Milk Music onto your Galaxy S6, so it is ready to go from the moment you get your phone. It is powered by Slacker, which is another well known player. You will be able to listen to different radio stations based on your favorite genres or get individual tracks.

It has an easy to use interface and you can even listen for free. If you want to have unlimited skips or offline saving, you will need to pay the subscription price.

N7player

  • 7-day trial and then a paid app
  • Perfect for people who are older or with vision problems
  • Perfect playback with 10-band equalizer

N7 is a great app that is finger friendly and easy to use – making it perfect for those who aren’t tech-savvy. You will be able to navigate your music library using just your fingers and know exactly what you are doing. There are a few different skins to pick from, some being easier to see than others. You can even resize and customize things so that you can control from your home screen or lock screen. Apart from the visual, this one is also amazing for those who need high sound quality. There is a 10-band equalizer with presets so that you can adjust your volume and audio quality.

This one is a bit more expensive but does offer a 7-day trial so you can see if you like it before you buy it.

Neutron Music Player

  • Perfect for sound nerds.
  • Easy to make your own versions of songs.
  • Great playback.

Neutron is a very simplistic app, but don’t allow that to put you off of it. There is a wide range of audio capabilities here. You will be able to control the sound, so if you have very specific needs, this is the best choice. You can even make your own versions of songs here and save them. Then, you can output them to your home system.

Like many of the other apps out here, you will only get a limited time trial (5 days) and then you will need to upgrade them.

Poweramp

  • Look up song lyrics in app.
  • Upgrade after 2 week free trial
  • Easily manage your library

Probably one of the most popular music apps for Galaxy S6, this one is full of features. You get the typical capabilities that you expect – you can manage your library, get tray controls, look at album art, and find new music. However, one neat feature is that you can also look up song lyrics. There are plenty of skins available, playback controls, and an equalizer.

Once again, you will only get to use this app for about two weeks before you do have to upgrade.

Rdio

  • Beautiful interface
  • Extremely easy to use
  • Has curated stations to listen to

If you are more of a social music listener, there is no better option than Rdio. It is a classy app that will look great if you display your phone in your office. This app updates quickly and gets new music fairly regularly. Once you have listened for some time, you even get music suggestions that will help you to find new music.

Finally, there are some great social media tie-ins so that you can share your new music.

Shuttle for Android

  • Great full-on experience for your phone.
  • Perfect for those who like the “Android” style.
  • Has a premium upgrade option.

Shuttle for ANdroid is a great music app that has a premium upgrade if you want it. The home screen widgets and in-line headphone control options make it a very user friendly music app. If you do decide to get the upgrade, you can even use it with Chromecast to work with your home audio system. You’ll be able to tag your music and put different themes.

Shuttle is great for a full experience on your phone-you can even change the background of your phone using one of the extensions so that your background reflects the music you are listening to.currently playing. By and large, Shuttle is one of the best-looking Android music players out there.

Songza

  • Easy to use.
  • Free or paid version.
  • Find playlists for virtually everything.

Songza is another well known option that has some of the most specific questions. You will have a “Concierge” (which is really just an algorithm) that will help you to get new playlists. Some of them are based on specific artists that you like and others will be on specific activities like exercising or getting ready for a night out. Whatever you want to listen to, you can probably find it here. There are some ads, so you can avoid those by paying for premium.

Spotify

  • Widest selection of music.
  • Free or paid version.
  • Make your own playlists or download artist playlists.

No matter what type of device you use, you’ve probably considered Spotify at some point. Probably the most popular music app across all devices. You can download songs and save them to playlists, add songs to a queue, or just listen to the playlists developed by Spotify. If you are interested in the widest collection of music, you will find it here. There are very few people who aren’t on Spotify.

Overall, you need to determine what matters to you. If you are willing to pay a subscription price, nothing is better than Spotify for availability. Moving forward, Spotify will be how most people get their music. There are so many different music apps out there – which ones are your favorite? Did we miss something that you really love to use?
