8 Apps Like Dubsmash Where You Can Go Viral

By: Editorial Staff

There are certain apps that just seem to capture hearts and minds and some that don’t – these are apps similar to Dubsmash, TikTok, Twitch, & More. You can use these apps to make videos, watch them, share them, and gain some fame.

There are plenty of copycats out there, but it can be difficult to find ones that are worthwhile, have active users, and aren’t asking for all of your information in return. However, once you start digging, there are some great apps that may help you on those bigger apps.

8 Dubsmash Alternatives

There are some great Dubsmash alternatives out there that you should hop on before they blow up – that way, you can have a built in fanbase and skillset for when the app does blow up. We’ve looked through many different contenders and determined which ones have the most potential.

Here’s what we found:

1 – AndroVid

  • DubSmash video maker for Android

AndroVid is a high-quality video editing app where you can take videos from anywhere and meticulously edit them. The tools are intuitive and do not take a long time to learn. You can even add subtitles to your videos before you upload them somewhere else. If you have recordings you want to edit, this is the best bet – you can download them in different formats, including FLV, MP4, MP3, and MPEG.

Pros: Amazing option to edit sounds and use them in other apps

Cons: Video editing capabilities aren’t as profound

2 – Dubshoot

  • Probably the best direct Dubasmash maker

If you are looking for a 1:1 alternative to DubSmash, DubShoot is the obvious winner. You can do almost all of the same things on this app. You make cool videos, decorate selfies, add sounds, and more. There are daily updates, popular trends, and some really funny content.

It does focus more on Bollywood sounds, but there is content in over 20 languages – you can also get your own sounds and upload them into the app. One way this stands above DubSmash? The search feature works correctly!

Pros: Amazing selection of sounds; great search feature; good editing capabilities

Cons: Not as many English sounds

3 – Funimate

  • Has over 5 million users globally

If you are looking for an app like Dubsmash that is a bit more established, Funimate is a great place to start. It feels a bit like Musically because you can take videos of virtually anything and add music. You can create something professional or something silly. Add in graphics, filters, and more. There are plenty of stickers and emojis that make your videos funny. The controls allow you to create seamless transitions.

Pros: Fantastic selection of music; over 5 million users; worldwide appeal

Cons: This app doesn’t seem to be as popular in the United States

4 – Mobcrush

  • Best for gamers

If you are looking for a live streaming feature, Mobcrush is a great choice. Many of your favorite creators are already on MobCrush because it is a bit more user friendly than some of the alternatives. It is also the app of choice for many developers, so you can sometimes get a sneak peek at apps that are upcoming. You can use Mobcrush to live stream to YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, and more.

If you are looking to build a fanbase, start here. You can just hang out or stream. You can participate in live events, contests, and trends.

Pros: Helps to build your fan base; amazing live streaming features

Cons: There aren’t many editing features within the app

5 – Reverse Movie FX

  • Best choice to make silly videos

Sometimes, you don’t want to make professional videos, you just want to make something that will make people laugh. Reverse Movie FX has professional-grade tools and capabilities, but I wouldn’t suggest using it for that. You can take any clip you have and reverse it to get a high-quality video. You can reverse music, conversations, and more. Try to find secret meanings in songs, make funny movie edits, or get creative with your friends.

Pros: It reverses videos extremely well (no cuts);  good sharing options

Cons: Doesn’t have as many capabilities as other apps; not for professional use

6 – Video Merger

  • A good no-frills app

If you are looking for an app that just helps you merge and edit videos, and you don’t need all of the extra features, Video Merger is a great choice. It has some of the best technical tools to make elegant, professional videos. There is a free option and a pro version. The free version is passable, but the pro version really has some great features. You can get a free trial to see if it is for you.Even better, you can save videos on this app and use them on many other apps to add some of the fun features if that is something you want.

Pros: Professional level appeal; great tools; pro version makes extremely professional videos

Cons: Doesn’t have some of the extra “fluff” that makes Dubsmash fun

7 – VideoShow

  • Best-in-class video editing

If you use your smartphone to shoot and edit most of your content, VideoShow is a fantastic paid app like DubSmash. You take your content and apply different filters, stickers, transitions, and tones to end up with a cool result. Many people use this app and then transfer to Instagram or TikTok. One of the best features is the subtitles tool – you can get subtitles quickly and easily.

One thing to be aware of is that you zip your file, the content will decrease quite dramatically in quality.

Pros: Amazing tools; great filters; easy to transfer your files to other apps

Cons: Do not zip your files – the quality completely falls

8 – VivaVideo

  • Comprehensive tools to edit videos

VivaVideo is a free video editor that has so many video editing tools that you will have to spend hours to see them all. You can record your video using the app or bring in videos and photos from your phone. You can then add music, stickers, filters, transitions, and more. It is the perfect DubSmash video maker for Android. Some of the results will be truly shocking – with the right kind of content, you can get a really professional looking video.

Pros: Amazing set of tools; completely free

Cons: Leans more toward a professional angle

Whether you are looking to go viral or you simply need to make videos for your business, friends, or family – there are so many resources out there. Sometimes, it takes a while to learn the tools, but once you do, you can do truly amazing things.

Download a few and use more than one to edit if you want to create something new. Maybe you want to try a few just to see what matches your style more. Even if you aren’t ready to become famous, sometimes it is fun to just send silly videos to your friends.
