Rumors are heating up about the upcoming release of Boom Beach 2, the little brother of the incredibly popular Clash of Clans. That comes at the heels of the newly released Clash Royale in limited scope both for platform and countries. Here we will look into the possible new features that will be included in Boom Beach 2 and when we may expect Supercell to release the next version. We’ll also look into when we can expect Clash Royale to be released to Android and to the United States. Thankfully, we can learn a little about the trends and seasonality of Supercell’s other app updates for Clash of Clans and Hay Day to gain insight into this one.
Unlike other games like Madden or FIFA where there are expected release dates and often times come along with heavy marketing campaigns, Supercell tends to be secretive of their updates. In addition, Supercell has been known to selectively release new versions of their apps to different markets (iOS, Android, Windows Phone) and countries (Canada, USA, Europe) while testing their servers stability and functionality. They also tend to be secretive with new features that they include in new updates despite Boom Beach tips that recommend new ideas or cool new options.

Release Date For Boom Beach 2 – Supercell’s Release History
To get a sense of the frequency that Supercell releases their updates and when they will perhaps release Boom Beach 2 we will look toward the release date history of Clash of Clans. CoC was originally released on August 2, 2012 for iOS. The release date breakdown below provided from Wikia allows us to glean some interesting information about Supercell.
They consistently release new versions of the app every 2-3 months. However, during the release of the original Boom Beach on November 11, 2013 Supercell hadn’t updated CoC in over 8 months! This likely is because Supercell’s staff was working around the clock to release Boom Beach and didn’t have time to update CoC. This was very similar for the release of Hay Day on June 21, 2012, which coincided with a long gap in CoC updates. Given this theory, I wouldn’t guess a new release of Boom Beach 2 for at least a few months since there was a recent December 18th, 2015 CoC update.
Many of the Boom Beach regular players have requested the ability to write custom notes that outline your bases and targets so you can keep track of what’s going on in the game and the ability to plan tactics. You can find a whole forum dedicated to Boom Beach feature requests run on Supercell’s website. You can read about some of the new features that are more or less likely to appear in the new Boom Beach version.
Clash Royale for Android and United States Release Date
While the rumors for a new Boom Beach 2 have been growing recently, this is coinciding with the hyped release of the new Clash Royale. Clash Royale is currently only available for iOS in Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Finland, and New Zealand. So you will have to wait if you’re in the United States and want to play Clash Royale or if you’re an Android user.
Given the fact that Clash Royale is only available for iOS there are rumors that Supercell may have an agreement with Apple whereas Apple pays for the exclusive rights to Clash Royale during initial testing and user feedback phases. This means that Android users will have to wait until Supercell works the kinks out of their new platform. Another potential reason why Supercell has stuck exclusively with iOS is because they want to limit their servers and test on a secure platform. By limiting the scope and platform Clash Royale is used on, they can ensure that they provide the best environment to test the new game.
Luckily for us, Supercell has a habit of releasing their apps first to Canada and sticking with iOS solely. They did this for Clash of Clans, Hay Day, and Boom Beach. We can glean a lot of information:
- Clash of Clans released for iOS August, 2012 and for Android October, 2013 – 14 month lag time
- Hay Day released for iOS June 2012 and for Android November, 2013 – 16 month lag time
- Boom Beach released for iOS November, 2013 and for Android March, 2014 – 4 month lag time
Based on this information and that Clash Royale was released for iOS on January 4, 2016, I would estimate that the earliest we would see Clash Royale for Android would be May, 2016. While the latest could be as late as May, 2017. However, I wouldn’t expect it to take that long since Clash Royale is built on the Clash of Clans universe and much of the work testing the servers and working out the bugs has already been done. I’m going to estimate that Clash Royale will be released for Android and in the United States in June 2016.
